Fire

Fire is a chemical mixture of three factors such as Heat , light and especially oxygen.  

As we understand that three factors effects the fire  , In the world of Safety it is also known as Fire Triangle. I hope you have heard about the Fire Triangle see the Diagram given below for your Better understanding.   

Fire Triangle

The combination of Oxygen , Heat , Fuel is called Fire Triangle.

Fire Triangle is a triangle in which three factors are present .

When a Fire starts , we need to understand how we can extinguish it.If we isolate any one of these factors then we can control the fire.

Fire Controlling

1) Remove Fuel 

In this case we have to try to remove fuel.

2) Remove Oxygen

In this case we have to try to remove the contact of oxygen which helps to stop the fire.

3) Reduce the Heat

Here try to to reduce the the heat.

CLASSIFICATION OF FIRE

Fire is classified into 5 types , it is like A ,B,C,D,E WHY we are naming them like this , because you have seen in extinguisher which type of it is. see in the  picture given below.

let me introduce about types of fire below :-

A - TYPE FIRE ( SOLIDE FIRE ) :-

Such fire which occurs in wood ,rubber ,paper , coal ,clothes etc. is called solid fire . The fire which starts in solid is extinguished by water extinguisher.

 Some times people get confused to understand the solid , I mean which type of solid let me explain .

Suppose fire catches in clothes it will convert into ash after burning , that means solid which left ash after burning is taken as solid. 

B-TYPE FIRE (LIQUID FIRE):-

A fire that occurs due to any flammable liquid , like petrol , diesel, oil , paints such fire is called B-type fire OR Liquid fire.

we all know that liquid like Petrol , diesel , kerosene , etc. are very flammable  If you found in your near by that fire occurs due to these liquid then you will aware about the FOAM TYPE EXTINGUISHER .

C-TYPE FIRE (GAS FIRE):-

The fire that occurs due to flammable gases like LPG , CNG etc. such fire is called C-TYPE FIRE OR GAS FIRE.

We all are friendly with our house gas Cylinder which contains LPG and due to that leakage we found fire occurs , we are also friendly with CNG gas which is used in cars , generally you heard about the car catches fire during CNG filling or leakage , in this types of situation we have go far as possible if you are near any fire extinguisher (Powder Type Extinguisher) then use it. It will help you to extinguish fire.

D-TYPE FIRE (Flammable Metals):-

The fire that occurs due to flammable metals like zinc ,magnesium , alcium , cerium , lithium etc. such fire is called D-TYPE FIRE .

These flammable metals are generally used in laboratory , industries etc. in such type of fire we have to use dry powder / cleaning agent type fire extinguisher.

E-TYPE FIRE (Flammable Metals):-

A fire that occurs due to short circuit or burning of wires is called electric fire.

During overvoltage or power fluctuation electric cables or equipment catches fire to extinguish such type of fire we have to use CO2 TYPE EXTINGUISHER .

"F AND K" -TYPE FIRE (INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS):-

The fire catches due to vegetable oil , animal oil , fatty oil etc. such fire will be extinguish with the help of F AND K type fire extinguisher.
