INTRODUCTION TO SEPARATION TECHNIQUE
Hii, Do you want to understand that what is Separation Technique? then don't worry about this it is so easy to Understand basically you have to understand the defination of separation Technique ,If You are a school student then you simply define the separation Technique by the definition given just below and if you are a college student then second defination is perfect for you both are easy and simple to understand so go and read them.Separation Technique are those techniques that can be used to separate two different states of matter such as liquid and solid.
Separation technique is the unit operation in which transfer of material or transfer of mass takes place from one point to another point.
Why transfer takes place between two points ?
The transfer between the two points is caused by differences in concentration.
Due to this transfer there is separation in the material hence it is also called separation technique.
Therefore, the mass transfer operation itself is called the separation technique.
Types Of Mass Transfer Operation.
There are several types of mass transfer operation which are given below:-
- Diffusion
- Distillation
- Gas absorption
- Liquid-liquid extraction (solvent extraction)
- Solid-liquid extraction (leaching)
- Humidification
- Dehumidification
- Crystallization
- Drying.
What is Diffusion ?
Diffusion is the process where the molecules merge as a result of their kinetic energy of random motion. It occurs in liquid and gases because their molecules move randomly the molecules move from a reason of higher concentration to a reason of lower concentration down the concentration gradient until the concentration equalise throughout the medium.

- Gas absorption
- Liquid-liquid extraction (solvent extraction)
- Solid-liquid extraction (leaching)
- Humidification
- Dehumidification
- Crystallization
